Now that hurricane season is upon us, some customers have been asking what to do with their retractable awning during a hurricane or severe storm.
The answer is simple and logical.
Here is a short list of what to do:
- Close your awning.
- Unplug the power cord, or turn off the breaker if your awning is hard wired (of course this is for motorized awnings).
- Wrap a rope or bungee cord around the fabric roll, frame, and valence (to prevent the front valance fabric from flapping around violently and getting damaged). Do this on the ends and one or two spots in the middle evenly spaced.
That’s it! Just don’t forget to plug your awning back in and remove all the rope or bungees before you commence normal operation.
